POSITION TITLE: CDL Yard Driver
STATUS: Non-Exempt
CLASSIFICATION: Variable Hour Employee; working 40-60 hours per week, weather permitting, Saturdays required
DIVISION: Operations
REPORTS TO: Yard & Nursery Logistics Manager

 

SUMMARY:

The Yard CDL Driver ensures the timely pickup and delivery of all materials to and from Scott Byron and Co.’s suppliers, job sites, and company locations, in a safe, undamaged manner, contributing to the efficient, cost-effective, productive continuation of construction/maintenance projects through to completion.

SALARY RANGE:

$25/hr

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to and uphold all Company safety practices, procedures, and policies.
  • Continue to stay in compliance and retain a Class A CDL License for continued employment.
  • Responsible for driving daily in a commercial vehicle with or without passengers.
  • Operate loading and unloading equipment: skid steer loader – track/wheeled, mini excavator, concrete buggy, lifts, etc.
  • Perform physical field and yard work; load and unload vehicles at pickup and delivery.
  • Pick up and deliver materials to sites.
  • Perform any yard activities as assigned by supervisor.
  • Perform “on-road” repairs as applicable.
  • Pull maintenance on company vehicles in season and off-season.
  • Operate loading/unloading equipment.
  • Maintain all required logs
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork and documents.
  • Work safely in a team environment.
  • Communicate and resolve needs, issues, safety concerns, and/or problems to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Represent the Company in a positive manner befitting our brand and image.
  • Develop and maintain good communication, high safety standards, and positive relations with clients, customers, and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to communicate in English, including reading, writing, and use of phones.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds and perform physical field work as directed by supervisor.
  • Candidates must have a valid local driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Required to pass a DOT medical physical according to DOT guidelines.
  • A pre-employment physical and drug test is required after offer of employment.
  • Will be subject to random drug screening.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Employee shall also perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned or implied from the foregoing, consistent with the background, training and qualifications of Employee or may be reasonably delegated as being in the best interests of the Company.
• The Employee shall devote full time to their employment and expend best efforts on behalf of Company.
