With over 200 crew leaders, laborers and others participating in the 2019 Safety Day event Saturday, April 27th, neither the cold weather nor a late morning blizzard could dampen the interest of those attending.

Scott Byron & Co. considers worker safety its highest priority. At the event, team leaders along with professionals from organizations like Stihl, Juhlie, and even the North Chicago Fire Department demonstrated skills and techniques designed to keep workers out of harm’s way.  Some of the equipment used to build and maintain outstanding landscapes is inherently dangerous, including chainsaws, sod cutters, lawn mowers, trimmers, clippers and other hand items. Working with soil, masonry and large boulders is also physically stressful and requires proper technique to avoid injury.

Workers were divided into smaller groups and rotated throughout the Lake Bluff facility for over a dozen individual presentations. The indoor presentations focused on stretching and physical fitness were especially popular on this cold morning.

While many senior members of the Scott Byron team have been with the company for over twenty years, keeping up with the latest methods of performing their jobs is always worthwhile. The company prides itself on possessing an outstanding safety track record, which allows it to deliver superior landscapes on time and under budget.
